So Long Summer

Today calls for shorts and sandals. Even though fall is my all-time favorite season, I am sad to see the summer go. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that we are crawling up on 2016. Let’s pump the breaks a little bit, 2015. Slow your roll.

In October, I will be coming up on the end of year one at my very first big girl job. After college, I moved home in pursuit to find a job in the city and boy let me tell you, the job struggle was most definitely real. No one ever tells you that looking for a full-time job is a job itself. With every passing month, I got more and more down on myself, convinced I would never find a company who wanted to hire a new grad like me. I felt that I had wasted the past 4 years, including 3 summers worth of full-time internships, and lots and lots of money (student loans are an entirely different animal). All for a degree that was getting me nowhere.

Fast forward a few months to October 2014 and I am accepting my very first legitimate job and actually putting my major to use. The company I work for is great and our industry type is just as fantastic – interior design and architecture. Am I working and living in the city? No, but I can deal.

I am grateful that I was able to land a job in my desired field. I know many new grads don’t always get that same reward. This post is for all of you new grads out there, because last summer I was in your shoes. Welcome fall as a fresh start and new opportunities will come your way. I pinky swear. Stay positive, stay consistent, and never give up. Your time will come.

  3. These are gorgeous photos and what a perfect location to shoot an outfit post! I'm about to start my master's degree but I'm seriously dreading the job hunt that will come after it this time next year. But will definitely keep this last paragraph in mind when it comes down to that :) x

    1. Thank you! Please keep those words in mind, because those are the same things I told myself. If you find yourself having trouble, just keep trucking on through. If that doesn't work, pour yourself a glass of wine because that works just as well...sometimes better.

  5. I love this post, it's so inspiring! I believe there's a time for everything and anyone and when things don't happen when we think they should, well, it's just not time! BUT, like you said, it WILL come :) Congrats on making one year at your job!

I love your outfit and I totally agree with you, 2015 feels like it's flying by and I wish there was a pause button, but I'd only pause it during fall because it's my favorite season, haha!

Anyway, have a wonderful day, beauty!

  6. Congrats on your job, good to hear that you found a job in your field! Finding a job is definitely hard, I couldn't find a job for months after completing my master's degree so it was really depressing! You look pretty xx

    1. Thank you for your sweet words. And, oh it is totally depressing! But good things come to those who wait, right? At least that is always what I told myself. Personally, I have little to no patient, so that period of search was quite the test.
